   German Development Cooperation

Supporting the Ugandan water sector is a joint programme shared by five German development agencies. Together with GTZ (www.gtz.de), though RUWASS, the following German Development Cooperation agencies perform coordinated and jointly managed interventions addressing the macro-, meso- and micro-levels of the Ugandan water sector.

  • Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW) – www.kfw.de - is the financing arm of German Development Cooperation. KFW contributes to the reforms through infrastructure investments for the large towns operated by NWSC and coordinates the focal area programme.
  • German Development Services (DED) – http://uganda.ded.de, www.ded.de - provides engineers located in several small towns, including Northern Uganda, to support capacity development at the local level.
  • Centre for International Migration (CIM) – www.cimonline.de - assists with the recruitment of European experts working inline with Ugandan public and private institutions.
  • InWEnt (Capacity Building International) – www.inwent.org - organises demand driven and designed regional training modules for the water sector institutions.
